Visionael Launches Server to Discover, Reconcile and Report Critical Information on Large Networks
Real-time repository acts as the single source of network truth, saving operators valuable time and money
Broadband World Forum Europe 2007
Booth 217
Berlin - October 9, 2007 -- At Broadband World Forum Europe, Visionael Corporation,
a leading provider of next-generation service automation and delivery management software and services, today announced its Discovery Management Server (DMS). As a new option within the Visionael Discovery and Reconciliation Management solution, the DMS quickly discovers, reconciles and reports on data in large-scale, highly distributed networks, creating a real-time repository for network information. For service providers, managed communications providers and global enterprises, the DMS acts as the single source of network truth, exposing the constantly evolving composition of the network.
Designed with a 3-tier discovery architecture, the DMS allows IT professionals to automatically use the SNMP-based discovery in a distributed manner, without having to script the retrieval and reconciliation process. The DMS also allows for the remote invocation of discovery runs as well as collection invocation based on external systems, like ticketing or fault management software. Additionally, auto discovery profile generation gives operators the ability to create discovery profiles to be utilized across the network — removing additional set-up processes and saving IT professionals time and effort spent on manual intervention.
The DMS GUI acts as a health dashboard by providing an at-a-glance view of all discovery servers under management, ensuring performance and upgradeability. The GUI also assists with uploading XML or CSV files, processing them with back-end logic to update the "include" settings. This results in the automatic resolution for broadcast and network addresses for exclusion from discovery runs.
Enhanced filtering of data within the reconciliation process makes it a clean, efficient process. Differential reconciliation is used to provide significant performance improvements during reconciliation so that only the differences to the main repository are processed.
"Service providers are now faced with the challenge of managing constant change on vast networks. Because their networks are revenue generating, maintenance windows are often short, making traditional discovery problematic," said Craig Nichols, president and CEO of Visionael. "The DMS addresses this issue by providing a fast, easy way for service providers to collect large volumes of data — from multiple networks — and reconcile this information on a frequent basis. This saves service providers valuable time and money."
