Visionael Network Resource Manager 7.0 Provides Enterprises with Next-Generation Solution to Minimize Network Cost and Maximize Business Value

Visionael NRM 7.0 Introduces Industry's Most Advanced Network Discovery, Security and Usability Features to Help IT Organizations Align with Business Objectives, Reduce Costs, and Meet Regulatory Requirements

PALO ALTO, Calif. - November 1, 2004 - Visionael Corp., a leading provider of security and network management solutions, today announced Visionael Network Resource Manager™ NRM 7.0, an enterprise-scalable system for network discovery, design and documentation. Available immediately, NRM 7.0 adds advanced discovery, security, web access and reporting features to one of the industry's most powerful tools for implementing, enforcing and automating IT best practices.

Visionael NRM is a robust enterprise and carrier-class solution that enables IT Service Management, a major trend among large organizations that must align their complex networks and IT processes with overall business objectives. By allowing these organizations to consolidate network assets and reduce network complexity, Visionael provides for substantial savings in equipment and equipment-maintenance costs through improved utilization of existing assets. This savings typically represents between 5 - 20 percent of annual network equipment budgets. It also gives enterprises confidence that they have an accurate and well-documented accounting of their IT assets, essential in meeting the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley.

Visionael NRM 7.0 introduces the industry's deepest asset-oriented discovery, allowing organizations to capture and maintain an accurate repository of all network information. NRM 7.0 implements and supports effective change management — in contrast to desktop tools, the solution scales to support the volume and magnitude of ongoing changes in an enterprise environment and documentation stays relevant. The solution's open architecture allows IT managers to share information across the breadth of systems.

New in NRM 7.0 is object-level security, allowing organizations to maintain security on individual network devices, cards, ports, circuits, diagrams, and documents. This is accomplished by the Visionael Security Manager module, which also includes components for password criteria, segmentation, design-level security and work flow. Users can secure objects based on their location, on IP address ranges, on equipment and circuit types, or on user-specified criteria.

Visionael NRM 7.0 also introduces robust web access and reporting capabilities that make the solution faster, easier to use, and more flexible than ever. Scalable vector graphics significantly enhance NRM's appearance and speed in web browser-based graphic views. Visionael NRM also includes advanced options for viewing circuit layouts and formatting them for purposes ranging from general viewing and reporting to trouble tickets. The upgrade also supports Crystal Decisions Crystal Reports v10.0, as well as legacy versions 7.0 - 8.5.

"With NRM 7.0, we can discover and document networks faster and more productively," said Ray Thietten, Network Systems Manager for EDS. "Visionael Corporation worked with us to deliver new features in NRM 7.0 that allow us to better manage and control critical IT infrastructure information."

Visionael's NRM platform delivers real-time inventory of network devices and connectivity and allows IT administrators and network operators to map out device locations and configurations. Network views are scalable all the way from a global diagram of a geographically dispersed network, down to the individual card slots on each device. When first deploying the Visionael NRM platform, enterprises and network operators can use the Network Audit module to automatically discover detailed network device information and the physical location and logical connectivity of the devices. Network Audit uses an extensive library of more than 20,000 objects from leading network device vendors and automatically organizes data by sub-net or custom rules. This audit function identifies stranded assets, as well as underutilized assets, which can be redeployed and optimized for maximum cost savings.

"Visionael has a seven-year history serving the world's most complex networks, and we are gaining increased visibility among CEOs, CFOs and CIOs who see IT as a major driver for business success," said Craig Nichols, president and chief executive officer at Visionael. "Enterprises can no longer rely on desktop tools for network design and documentation, and CEOs are not willing to accept the cost associated with non-optimized networks or risk the consequences of human error when reporting assets under the heat lamp of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements."

Visionael NRM is currently available through Visionael's network of authorized resellers and VARs or by calling Visionael directly at (650) 470-8920. Potential customers interested in downloading and evaluating Visionael NRM may visit www.visionael.com.
