Description: This course offers hands-on training following standard processes for implementing Visionael NRM. Topics begin with implementation planning and full installation of the core products. Further topics include Security and recommended practices for managing the Library, Drawings, Designs, and Documents.
- Creating the Visionael repository
- Installing Visionael servers, Controller, Launcher, and License
- Configuring and deploying Visionael Console Manager
- Installing Visionael Studio, Repository Manager, and Console
- Setting up of Security and Workflow, including processes, stages, roles, sign-offs, users, and permissions
- Assigning users to a specific segment, process, stage, sign-off, and organization
- Installing Web Reports
- Discussion of best practices, policies and procedures, and data acquisition techniques
- Creating new library vendors and library devices
- Learning the drawing Manager interface, editing, converting, scaling, and setting drawing origin points, and importing Visio drawing objects

Prerequisites: RDBMS and basic networking experience are advantageous.

Description: Studio User for Research training is hands-on, detailed training on the general features of the Visionael Studio product. Topics include processing of moves, adds and changes; assigning and tracking circuits; creating network design diagrams; resolving conflicts and data mining.
- Interface and navigation of Visionael Studio GUI
- Locating network objects, circuits, attached documents, and designs
- Viewing object list views, user preferences, object properties, security and workflow processes, and standard reports
- Creating and modifying designs
- Adding and modifying geographical, network, and circuit objects
- Creating and assigning circuits, and adding customers and providers
- Common features such as attaching documents, using the quick add toolbar, tracing connectivity, and managing design conflicts
- Creating Diagrams and logical views

Description: This one-day Studio User training teaches the 'read-only' functions for research within the system. Topics include using the system features for object lookup; read-only viewing of diagrams and designs; and querying the entire Visionael Repository for reporting. This class is appropriate for users who have no data creation responsibility.

- Locating and researching network objects, circuits, attached documents, and designs
- Viewing object list views, user preferences, object properties, attached documents, and standard reports

Description: Visionael Data Collection training provides hands-on training to data collection Users and Asset Managers. This training enables them to effectively use the tool to discover a wide variety of devices and to reconcile information to the Visionael Repository.
- Data Collection Client settings and usage
- Discovery: Discovering existing network equipment using basic data collection techniques
- Discovery: Moving discovered data into the Visionael repository
- Introducing NMS systems (HPOV, etc.), adapters, DIMS, MIB, enterprise numbers in the Data Collection Process
- Using NMS systems to acquire device status information
- Reconciling information from external sources with the Visionael repository
- Understanding Configurable DIM entries
- Interpreting SNMP MIBs to expand collection capabilities
- Capturing debug output from the Item Tree service
- Using the Jwalker utility

Description: Visionael Data Collection Administration provides information for Administrators who manage Data Collection. The topics enable them to install, license, manage, and troubleshoot the application. Also covered is the use of the Visionael Library in Data Collection.
- Review of Data Collection prerequisites and installation for Windows, UNIX, file ownership and privileges
- Defining and using the installation and configuration files, including HyperSQL and DB Manager
- Data collection licensing and web certificate requirements
- Data Collection Administration tools
- Library management, including synchronization, templates and certification procedure
- Scheduler and cleanup for data collection
- Troubleshooting using debug output, tomcat and data collection logging and item tree service
Audience: Visionael Data Acquisition Specialist, Visionael Installation Specialist, or the team member responsible for maintaining the quality and access using Data Collection.
Prerequisites: Visionael NRM Installation & Administration. Basic web-based report creation skill is useful.

Description: Visionael Customization provides the skills to integrate with other systems; to migrate data; and to extend the product functions. Topics include database table relationships, extracting data and extending the database tables, and customizing using the COM API and the Services API.
- Database Structure: Understanding table descriptions, relationships, and extension of database tables for COM and GUI customization
- Extracting data from the tables using basic to advanced SQL queries
- Presentation API: Writing custom applications, learning how to capture events and utilize the information to perform functions in Visionael Studio
- Writing custom menu items, custom property pages, and custom programs
- Extracting information from the database via the COM, i.e., attribute lists, design status
- Services AP: Identify and examine CORBA, Message, and Entity points of entry.
- Use Java and the Entity API to design and implement custom interfaces to the Visionael Repository
Audience: Visionael Application Programmer
Prerequisites: Visionael NRM Studio User and RDBMS, SQL Query and Java programming skills.
